Based in Des Moines, Iowa, James Sheets has handled contractual and compliance matters for various corporate clients. He had more recently worked with two publicly listed companies on drafting and reviewing contracts, with a focus on technology agreements spanning data privacy and proprietary software assets. James Sheets has provided executives and business managers with counsel on warranty clauses, escalation clauses, joint venture fuel technology agreements, and intellectual rights (i.e copyright and trade secrets).

As an attorney associate with McEnroe, Gotsdiner, Brewer, & Steinbach, P.C., in Des Moines from 2016 to 2020, Mr. Sheets advised and drafted commercial contracts ranging from real estate purchases, commercial subleases, mortgages, and franchise operations. After returning to Iowa in 2008, he worked with The Goodrich Corp, as a corporate attorney and in business development in global distribution and supply contracts compliance within the advanced manufacturing sphere.

Mr. Sheets completed his law degree at the University of Iowa later teaching within the Department of Management and Organizations at Tippie College of Business. He has also instructed on law in various international settings, from the American University of Bosnia to the University of Jinan in China. While at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh, James Sheets handled undergraduate law courses and business law within the MBA program. His work was distinctive in his development of a compliance regime consistent with local Sharia law within GCC trade, TRIPS, and WTO trade rules.
